Rhymetime is about singing with babies and children. I aim to create a joyous space to make music together and play the guitar to accompany our voices. The emphasis is a mix of traditional and new songs which are fun to sing with your child. No-one teaches anything. Children’s learning happens at its own pace and in its own way – some children watch and soak up the tunes and the language, others dance and rock as soon as we start.
I also conduct West Gallery music and play the oboe for Bristol Harmony. When safe to do so, I run music sessions for older people in retirement communities and social clubs.
I set Rhymetime in 2003, when I was searching for a high-quality music group for my own baby. I now have three children, and am thrilled that so many children who first sang with me in 2003 still say hello and come along to Rhymetime with their brothers and sisters in the holidays. Singing is good for babies, it’s good for toddlers, it’s good for children and it’s good for us adults too. Keep singing those songs!
